Pinnekjøttlag

Pinnekjøttlag is a Norwegian Christmas tradition in which salted and dried lamb ribs that have been steam boiled are served with potatoes, mashed rutabaga, beer, and aquavit.

Tourin, Grethe, Reiden, and Annichen, new friends that I met through Liz, invited us over as a way of returning the favor from Thanksgiving. They really enjoyed celebrating an American holiday and wanted us to experience part of their culture.

The girls served it in a traditional manner and explained that families usually hold hands and walk around the Christmas tree while singing this song.

Good food and good company!
